Who We Are
FAF is an all-volunteer organization. Our mission is to foster greater compassion for animals by example and through education.
Our primary goals are:
1) To reduce the number of animals abandoned, homeless, or killed until they all have a loving forever home.
2) To educate the community by providing information concerning
• The right of animals to a life free of abuse or neglect
• The resources that are available to those with a limited income
• Volunteer opportunities to rescue, care for, and foster pets
• The sad realities of failing to spay/neuter pets, and the plight of shelters
• The steps to take BEFORE bringing a pet into your life
What We Do
The cats we rescue come from all kinds of situations: hoarding, abandoned, abused, unloved, and unwanted. FAF gets them the vet care they need and fosters them for as long as necessary until they can find loving permanent homes.
We work with caretakers to TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) cats and place the kittens into foster care for socialization and adoption. We are continually in need of volunteers and foster homes to help.
2020: The Year in Adoptions
It was a challenging year, yet still we managed to adopt out almost as many kitties as we did in 2019!
2020 changed so much, even the way we adopted kitties into new homes...
We had Zoom meetings, signed paperwork on doorsteps, and wore masks and physically distanced every step of the way.
Early on, spay/neuter clinics were closed so our kitties remained in foster care for extended periods of time. Thank goodness clinics soon reopened, but at limited capacity. Many people stepped up to foster, in fact more than we had cats/kittens to place into them.
It was a challenging year, yet we still managed to adopt out almost as many kitties as we did in 2019! In 2019 we placed 80 kitties into new homes. In 2020, the number was 78.
In addition to adoptions, we continued to help people on fixed incomes to be able to feed their pets and altered ferals.
We trapped, spayed/neutered, and released many ferals and made lots of new friends along the way.

We have cats and kittens in foster care and available for adoption. You can see them on our Petfinder page and during adoption events at select speciality pet stores like Petco-West Seattle, The Whole Cat and Kaboodle and Mud Bay (Admiral, Burien, Broadway at Thomas, and Queen Anne ). Follow us on Facebook for time and location of events. We usually have a few cats at Petco-West Seattle that you can visit during store hours:
Monday - Saturday: 9am - 9pm
Sunday: 10am - 7pm
